Cascade View wins Washington Achievement Award in Mathematics

The Washington State Board of Education has awarded the Washington State Achievement Award in Mathematics to Cascade View Elementary for 2012. The award is presented to schools based on student achievement on the statewide math test for the last two years. This year only 21 elementary schools throughout the state received this award. Thorndyke Students win Regional Global Reading Challenge

Seven 4th and 5th grade students from Tukwila's Thorndyke Elementary School competed in the Global Reading Challenge, sponsored and organized by the King County Library System (KCLS). Students must read 10 books selected by the KCLS and then answer questions on the books in a competition format with teams of students from other schools. Tukwila School District partners with TAF to Offer Robotics Program

The Tukwila School District has partnered with the Technology Access Foundation (TAF) to offer an after school robotics program for students at Showalter Middle School. The program started in January and now has 20 students enrolled. The TAF mission is “TAF equips students of color for success in college and life through the power of a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education.” STEM education is a key to access great jobs and is important to our student’s success.More…See More

"Granting credits for proficiency in a foreign language is such a no-brainer that it's surprising it wasn't already the case. I realize not all of our ELL students are literate in the languages they speak, but this is a great program."
