For the first time this year, the State of Washington is awarding the Seal of Biliteracy to high school graduates who have demonstrated proficiency in both English and another world language. 48 students in the Foster class of 2015 earned this distinction and will have this seal placed on their high school graduation diploma. There has been a waiting list in the Tukwila School District to get into preschool programs. The district currently runs a state funded program called ECEAP (Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program). The program provides preschool programs for 4 year olds who meet low income requirements. There are 36 slots available at Thorndyke and 36 slots available at Cascade View. The Tukwila School District has received $561,217 from the E-Rate program to be used to maintain District telecommunications services, Internet access and significantly upgrade the telecommunications infrastructure in all schools.
