Follow the Paper Trail

As usual, I find the WA Public Disclosure financial forms submitted by our local candidates to be quite revealing. I urge all citizens to review the information online before making a commitment to support any candidate.

Friends of the Tukwila Library Meeting

Please come by the Tukwila Library this upcoming Thursday, June 8 so for a Friends Meeting.

We'll get to know each other a bit and talk about ideas for Friends activities in the rest of the year. We're thinking of having a Big Book Sale this summer. Would you like to donate books, volunteer that day, let others know about it?

Do you have other ideas? Would you like to start a Friends of the Tukwila Library Book Club?

These are just a couple of ideas. Please bring your…

Where can someone go to find information on all the new city council candidates?

I have checked the city website and it says seats 1, 3, 5 and 7 are open but only list candidates for seat 5.

Anyone know where we can find a complete list?

Thank you

Back from a two week Cruise to Alaska

Marie and I just got back today from two week cruise to Alaska on Holland America. One could say that we are veteran cruisers at this point having taken a total of eight cruises since retirement in 2010. If anyone has questions, I would be happy to try to answer. One of my fervent hopes for Tukwila Talk is that we might share information about all manner of topics.

Changing Diapers

We need a change in our Council for the same reason we change diapers.

Summer Internship at Duwamish Hills Native Plant Nursery

Please help spread the word about this summer internship if you know anyone who might be interested. Although this is going out to UW departments and the restoration community, I would really love to get someone for our community helping to steward this project, learning about ecological restoration, our region's native landscape and the relationship between indigenous peoples and the land.

Thank you for any assistance in getting the word out.…

Ad Hominem Attacks

Hopefully, ad hominem attacks on TT will be ignored.
On another note, we all naturally tend to "connect the dots". This is a good thing but requires us to remember the times that we have misjudged a circumstance or an individual because we make assumptions about what that connection means.

POB 88903, Tukwila, 98138

Verna Seal, De'Sean Quinn, Thomas McLeod, and Zak Idan are all running their council campaigns with a common post office box. Would you believe there are those among us who would like us to believe these individuals are not running as a team?

There are other candidates capable of clear thinking and individual thought. We do not need four sheep joining the sitting three to continue their aimless way.

Wanted: Books

Lots of people have visited our new library! The supply of donated books the Friends of the Library sell to support library programs is dwindling. If you are spring cleaning or just weeding your personal library, please consider donating your discarded books to us. Please drop them off at the library anytime. Thanks!

Republicans target health care, taxes

https://www.tukwilareporter.com/opinion/republicans-target-health-care-taxes-chuck-parrish/

The House of Representatives just passed a terrible health care bill which still has to make its way through the Senate. While presenting the plan with flowery rhetoric about more choices (if you don’t have pre-existing conditions) and more access (if you can afford it), the actual impact…

No Patience for Innuendo

Yesterday, a blog post was posted here on Tukwila Talk. I wrote a comment but the poster decided not to allow it. So I am posting my comment here and some additional thoughts. So that you understand what I'm responding to, I have copied yesterday's post below.

Here is the post from yesterday entitled "Same old story":

"As Chuck has said, always follow the paper trail.

Proof of my assertion the Tukwila City Council works together in a close knit group…

Same old story

As Chuck has said, always follow the paper trail.

Proof of my assertion the Tukwila City Council works together in a close knit group discouraging any new blood lies in the PDC forms. Please note that the incumbents went as a group, outside King County, to a professional firm to manage their campaigns. It should be noted that one candidate who filed in the hope of filling the seat held by Joe Duffy, joined the group in these docs.

Huskies Rowing Team Sweeps in Pac 12 Championship

The California Bears and Washington Huskies have an historic rivalry. Huskies were rated #2 in nation with Cal rated #1. A month or two ago, Cal came to Seattle for the Windemere Cup and beat the Huskies handily.

Different story in Sacramento this past weekend. Huskies won varsity, 2nd and 3rd varsity. The varsity obviously won the PAC 12 championship.

Not to be outdone, the women varsity is ranked #1 in the country. And, yes, they too won the PAC 12 championship.

The…

The Incumbents Must Go!

Please take the time to read the posting(s) by Pam Carter, and you will see why the incumbents for our City Council MUST GO! They have clearly failed the test of time, as Ms. Carter's posting clearly illustrates.

Filing for office ends this Friday, (5/19/2017), and three incumbents filed today, (Mon., 5/15/2017), and are unchallenged at this time. Clearly, it is time for an end to local apathy, since the current Council has not performed (as Ms. Carter points out) in the interest of…
