On Tuesday, the Board of Architecture Review held a special meeting and approved the design for the first phase of Tukwila Village. This includes a building that will have 80 apartments, 4 live/work units, and 8,000 square feet for restaurant and/or retail. This phase also includes a plaza with a commons building. It's late, I'm tired and cranky (been on a liquid diet for days since my kidney is to be removed Friday) but please if you are a BECU member fill out the application to help the Tukwila Pantry win $10K.

Effective today, Monday, September 16, 2013, the number for Tukwila citizens to dial for non-emergency situations is 206-241-2121.
This number is to be used to report incidents such as parking complaints or crimes that happened some time ago where the suspect is gone in addition to other non-urgent issues.
Please still call 911 in any of these circumstances:
• Serious medical emergencies
• Any type of fire
• Any crime in progress

For those of you who knew the Gully’s, Paul passed away yesterday. Paul was a long time landmark in the community working with the schools, helping with annexations, raising bees, supporting the start of the Rainier Symphony at Foster Performing Arts center and ‘Mom’ and Dad’ to many kids.
Paul was the father figure I looked up to when my Dad was dysfunctional all through my teen age years and adult life. He will be missed.

City council decided a wait and see approach to mandatory garbage collection. Of the three options under consideration: 1) mandatory, 2) hold off on a decision until later, 3) reject-outright, #2 was the majority.
I don't know about you but I sure miss their North Dakota sausage; it'll be a little further to drive than Top Hat was but still worth it in my opinion.
