Building a better community every day!
Every year the Washington State Board of Education provides a rating for every public school in the state. The rating is called the Achievement Index. It is a comprehensive rating that takes into account student performance in the following areas:
Each school is assigned an index number between 1 and 7. The index number is then translated in to one of 5 levels as follows:
| Level | Index Range | % of state schools in level | ||
| Exemplary | 5.50 - 7.00 | 11% | ||
| Very Good | 5.00 - 5.49 | 15% | ||
| Good | 4.00 - 4.99 | 37% | ||
| Fair | 2.50 - 3.99 | 29% | ||
| Struggling | 1.00 - 2.49 | 7% |
Cascade View received an Exemplary rating (6.14) for the 11-12 school year and is in the top 2% of schools in the state. Tukwila Elementary received a Very Good rating (5.06) and is in the top 22% of schools in the state. Foster received a Good rating (4.60). Thorndyke received a Fair rating( 3.94) which is very close to the Good level. Showalter received a Fair rating (3.31).

Comment by Pam Carter on February 7, 2013 at 7:50pm Thanks for sharing this great news! This is something that needs trumpeted from the rooftops. So often we hear only negative comments about our schools. And Cascade View -- you are outstanding!
Comment by Sarah Vallieu on February 13, 2013 at 11:27am Yet at the same time, educators in the district are suing, indicating among other things that "needs of minority students are not being met and it shows in test scores." My understanding is that CV is the most diverse of our three elementary schools. I don't understand the disconnect here.
