Cascade View ranks in top 2% of state schools

Every year the Washington State Board of Education provides a rating for every public school in the state. The rating is called the Achievement Index. It is a comprehensive rating that takes into account student performance in the following areas:

• Math, Reading, Writing and Science state tests
• Performance on the tests of low income students
• Performance on the tests of non low income students
• Performance on the tests relative to other schools with similar demographics
• Improvement in test performance from the previous year.

Each school is assigned an index number between 1 and 7. The index number is then translated in to one of 5 levels as follows:

Cascade View received an Exemplary rating (6.14) for the 11-12 school year and is in the top 2% of schools in the state. Tukwila Elementary received a Very Good rating (5.06) and is in the top 22% of schools in the state. Foster received a Good rating (4.60). Thorndyke received a Fair rating( 3.94) which is very close to the Good level. Showalter received a Fair rating (3.31).
