Building a better community every day!
Comment by Sarah Vallieu on March 4, 2013 at 1:21pm Too, too bad. I hear a lot of good things about him from parents up there, and as I have said in another post, it would be GREAT to have some continuity up there. So many principals, so few years...
Comment by Pam Carter on March 5, 2013 at 9:09pm It's unfortunate that he is leaving at this time. My fear is that we might have trouble attracting quality candidates because of all the turmoil -- although I have heard the superintendent applicants look very promising. As far as the turnover of principals -- his predecessor Jim Boyce left for personal reasons, not dissatisfaction with the school or district. Previous to him were two principals whowere not of the quality we expected in Tukwila so their departures were positive steps. In fact, Mr. Boyce greatly improved discipline at Foster in just a few months.
Comment by Kathleen D. Gantz on March 8, 2013 at 6:04pm Please see the event page. There is a parent and community meeting on March 14 to get input about the search for a new principal.
Comment by Ricardo Frazer on March 13, 2013 at 5:51pm With all due respect to Dr. Griek, it is my understanding and observation that he was not the right hire for the principal position at Foster in the first place. I commend him and the Board for taking the necessary steps to do what ultimately will be in the best interest of Foster students. I will be unable to attend the parent and community meeting at Foster High School on March 14 as mentioned by Kathleen above but encourage all community members to attend if possible. I wish only the best for Dr. Griek, he is a good man.
